Bloomsburg Field Hockey Defeats Slippery Rock

BLOOMSBURG --Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) and Brieann Wolfe (Perkasie/Pennridge) each scored three goals to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 12-0 win over Slippery Rock University on Wednesday.

The Huskies go to 3-0 on the year and improve their winning streak to 27 straight dating back to last season.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 9-0 halftime lead with Vanartsdalen getting all three of her goals in a six-minute stretch. Wolfe scored two first half goals and closed out the scoring in the 64th minute.

Vanartsdalen also added one assist with Wolfe getting two. Ashley Miller (Shermans Dale/West Perry) scored two goals and had one assist, while Amy Gilbert (Duncannon/Susquenita), Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail), Tara Bourke (Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) and Liz Macready (Denver/Cocalico) each had one goal.

Bloomsburg's defense did not allow Slippery Rock any shots on goal.

The Huskies return to action at home against Millersville on Saturday at noon.
